What happens to your data and signature

When you sign the Night Sky Statement for Humanity, your name, location, and any details you provide are recorded securely in a private register held by Sky Commons.

Your signature is then anonymised before being added to the public map - what appears there is your general location (for example, your region or town), not your personal details.

We will never sell your data or share it with third parties for commercial purposes. We do, however, reserve the right to share signature data in aggregated or identified form if doing so supports the goals of the NSSH - for example, presenting the register to a government body, scientific institution, or international forum as evidence of public will. If we ever do this, we will be transparent about it. You can request removal of your details from our register at any time by contacting us.
